FED2003 - Brisbane, QLD.

By Gordon Kelly

Well, there goes another FED show and what a great time was had by all that attended It was good to catch up with everybody again and have a chat over a beer or three( or 4?).

Quite a few members traveled up to Brisbane for the weekend including F. Carey, G Hyslop, G Bastin, The Hunt's, the Weal's and the Sewell's just to name some.

I must thank Peter Trow for helping transport our team to and from the venue. This was very much appreciated. Peter showed with the SEQZFS team and scored an amazing 3 st placings one 21nd placing and two 3rd placings. What a great individual effort. (it must have had something to do with Kerry preparing his show boxes!)

The ZFSA team came in 4th which doesn't sound too bad until you realise there is only 5 teams competing! We'll be back bigger and better next year so start planning your trip to Lake Macquarie NOW!

The FED meeting went reasonably well with the following being the main points of interest coming out of the meeting:

  • The Charcoal has been made a full standard mutation and therefore will be included in all show schedules and compete for Champion awards etc., including State Teams and FED shows.
  • The proposed new FED rotation suggested by Peter Trow was tabled by our society and after some debate a vote was taken where the rotation was accepted to start in 2006 after the current rotstion ends. In brief, the rotation includes each FED team having two birds per class. All colours will be exhibited Every year. Cocks one year hens the next with the exception of Grey cocks and hens which will be shown every year.
